Tight Calves? Check this out!

Updated: Oct 1

If you stretch all the time, but you can’t get your calves to loosen up, perhaps you’re not stretching correctly. There are two main muscles of the calf - Gastrocnemius and Soleus. Gastrocnemius has two muscle heads, one on the inside and one on the outside of your calf. Soleus runs deep to Gastroc and is located in the middle of your calf.

Often times, people love to stretch the middle, but rarely do they incorporate a stretch or movement to the inside or outside of the calves. Here’s your solution!

  1. Prop the foot of your tight leg up against a wall so your heel is flat on the ground and your toes are flat on the wall

  2. Place your hands on the wall as if someone is going to search you for weapons

  3. Lean forward with your whole body so your nose is almost touching the wall

  4. Go back to starting position and then lean towards your right hand

  5. Go back to starting position and then lean towards your left hand.

Instead of holding the stretch, repeat 10x going in all 3 directions. You’ll feel a different stretch in each direction.
