Not all Chiropractors are the same.
Comparing one Chiropractor to another is like comparing green beans to brussel sprouts. Sure they are both vegetables, but they look and taste very different. The same thing is true with Chiropractors.
When I tell people that I am a Chiropractor, I often get one of two responses - “Oh so you crack backs for a living” OR someone groaning and complaining that Chiropractors do more harm than good. But why do people associate one bad experience or story with a Chiropractor to be all Chiropractors?
Truth is, every Chiropractor is different. Some Chiropractors do crack backs all day without even looking their patient in the eye, whereas other Chiropractors spend a whole hour with their patient every visit. Some Chiropractors want to see you 3x/week for the rest of your life, whereas others say only come back when this problem flares up again. Every Chiropractor is different.
There is SO much more to Chiropractic than cracking backs and popping necks. In fact, research shows that exercise and movement can be equally if not more beneficial than an adjustment with longer lasting effects too.
If you come into my office, there is a good chance I am going to adjust you, but there is also a good chance I’m not. What I can guarantee is that I will give you an exercise to help prevent the condition from returning. Muscles move joints and it is just as important to treat the muscle, as it is the joint.
So next time you think of a Chiropractor, don’t just think about snap, crackle, and pop. That is a cereal, not a medical provider. Instead, think about proper movement mechanics, joint centration, neurological function and brain efficiency. That is the true power behind Chiropractic.
