Forward head carriage is a huge problem in the population today. If you look at yourself in the mirror, your ears, shoulders, and hips should draw a straight line. Forward head carriage is when your head is in a forward position and your ears are in front of your shoulders.
Forward head carriage can be a huge problem because it causes tension in the neck that can lead to headaches, migraines, neck pain, upper back pain and more. The good news is this is a simple exercise to correct it!
Additionally, if you suffer from numbness, tingling into your shoulder or down your arm, including carpal tunnel, it might be due to a pinched nerve in your neck. The further your head is forward, the more that nerve can become irritated. So pull that chin back and watch your pain disappear!
This is one of our favorite exercises! It is so simple, yet effective. Keep in mind that you want to look straight ahead while doing this exercise (unless you’ve been given the advanced version). Pull that chin back and hold for 1-2 seconds, then repeat 10x. We recommend doing this every hour, especially if you spend most of your day on a phone or computer.
